The Historical Museum of St. James-Assiniboia Inc.

Municipality of Assiniboia Municipal Hall

The Historical Museum of St. James-Assiniboia Inc. is home to three buildings including the historically designated 1856 Red River Frame House, the 1911 Municipal Hall, and our 1890’s Interpretive Center.

The Historical Museum of St. James-Assiniboia Inc. first opened in the historic 1911 Municipal Hall building on November 22, 1970. In 1973 the Red River Frame House was moved from its original location in Headingley, Manitoba to its current place as part of the Historical Museum of St. James-Assiniboia. As part of this process the house underwent a restoration. The museum’s Interpretive Centre was then built to hold additional displays in the early 1970s. An additional restoration of the 1856 Red River Frame House occurred in the Fall of 2007.
